COAST ARTILLERY UNITS
PARADE IN LEWES
MAY 22, 1941
Coast Artillery units
now stationed at Cape Henlopen for May maneuvers, some 1200
men, will parade their
regiment down Savannah Road from the canal to the high school
athletic field with the
high school 60 piece band furnishing the music. At the field,
the
soldiers will execute
close order drill for the spectators.
This will be the first
public show by military forces at Cape Henlopen since their
arrival
on May 7th for a
one month tent encampment at the government military reservation,
Fort
Miles, now under
construction for defense of Delaware Bay.
