9, is set aside for the tribute to Theodore Roosevelt by the
Governor
of Delaware, John Gillis Townsend.
To
meet with reverence that day will recognize his influence.
The
Governor ask all people, irrespective of race, color, or
political
association,
to arrange a suitable memorial on the day designated.
In
New York City, at the Church of St. Nicholas, 5th
Avenue & 48th
Street,
where he worshiped since childhood, the Roosevelt pew was left
empty,
decorated only with a wreath of laurel. Roosevelt attended the
church 44 years. As a young boy he had a heart of tendernesss.
He was
quick
witted too. He was intense for knowledge and had a logical mind
