LEWES HISTORY

1967

LIEUTENANT COLONEL HERBERT MEGEE HAZZARD

Lt. Col. Herbert Megee Hazzard of Lewes is now serving as a squadron

commander in the Pacific with the Air Force in Viet Nam, stationed at Tan son Nhut

Air Base. Hazzard is a veteran of WW II and Korea, received his commission in

1944 as an aviator. Hazzard was a Lewes High School graduate and had attended the

University of Maryland and University of Southern California

Herbert Megee Hazzard was born in 1923 at Lewes, son of Harry Palmer Hazzard

and Nellie Gertrude Robinson Hazzard. He had sister Irene, brother Eugene and sister
Doris Lee. He married Mary Louise Willard in Lewes 1944. They had four children.

He and his wife are buried in Winter Park , Orange county's Gotha Woodland

Cemetery, Florida.
