MAST VS STAFF


Mast and/or Staff

More research on topics under discussion at the 8 am coffee break at

MAST:
A tell vertical SPAR to support the sails, yards, radar, etc.,
on a ship, a vertical pole..

STAFF:
And or STAVE. A stick or rod used to support a symbol
of authority. Also a group of persons assisting a leader. Also
the vertical lines which carry the NOTE's of music. The act
of providing a work force. i.e. To staff.

MAST:
A mast is a tall spar, erected vertically on the center line of
a ship or boat, to carry sails, spars, and derricks, navigation
lights, signal yard, aerials and signal lamp. All ship mast
are guyed. A guyed mast depends on guy lines for stability
and to resist wind loads.
History holds that the earliest foremast was on an Etruscan
pyxis of Caere, Italy in the 7th century BC.

STAFF: also Staf, stahf, a noun, staves, Thesaurus.com defines
a staff as a group of persons charged with carrying our the work of an establishment, assistants, or excutive, or a member of a staff, also a long stick used as support when walking or
as a weapon, also short for flagstaff. A flagstaff, a noun a
term for flagpole , a noun, a pole used for flying a flag.
