John
and Elizabeth Hopkins began the granary in 1947 which has
grown
with the agricultural market of the Broadkill Hundred area.
It
is now owned by John and Laura Hopkins who took over in
1970
when John returned from serving his country.
Hopkins
Granary, the west end of Federal Street or Harbeson Road,
your choice, is a full time Safe Mark Farm Equipment store,
offering
seed,
farm chemicals, fertilizer, tire and batteries, dealing in grain
sales,
drying
and sorting and storage
Grain,
in from the farms, is weighed and unloaded at the 40 ton
wagon
or trailer lift, into the dryer, sorted and put in storage to be
sold.
There
is a 250.000 bushel storage capacity.
