DIRECTIONS FOR FALLING
INTO THE WHOREKILN ROADS
A red Buoy is stationed
on the SE Point of Shears in four fathom waters. The lighthouse
bears S by E from this
Buoy, and, the outer Point of Cape is S by E half E.
The course from the Cape is
NW by W, and, from the Red Buoy SSW. When the Cape
is SE by E te Buoy in
NNE, Lewestown SW, then there is anchorage in four fathom waters.
A large black Buoy,
stationed at lower part of Brown, in three fathom waters.,
which
you are to leave on the
Larboard Hand when going up the bay. The lighthouse bears from
black buoy, S by ¾ E,
A Buoy on the lower part of
Brandyewine, in four fathom waters, body black, with white rim,
and black head. Cape May
bears from this Buoy ESE by 1/4E, the Buoy on Brown S by
¼ E. From this Buoy
coming up course is NW by W as high a breakers midway the two
Buoys. When you are abreast the breakers , at cables length,
course is NNW, some, then N
will take you to upper
Buoy Brandywine, in five fathoms of waters.
A large Buoy in the
upper part Bradywine , in five fathom waters, white next to the
water,
red mid stripe, blank rim
and head, having four white squares. Cape May bears SE by E.,
the breakers SSE by ¼ E.
Lower End Cross Ledge ,
three and half fathoms waters, has large white Buoy .
Egg Island bears E half
N , Fortescue Island NE by N, ¼ E. Lower part Bombay
Hook, NW, Buoy on
Upper Middle NW half N.
A black buoy on the Upper
Middle, 17 feet waters, Thrum Caps is NW by W.
