1923 BUSINESSES,
MANUFACTURERS, MERCHANTS AND TRADESMEN.
Rehoboth Beach in 1923
had a population of 389. There were two canning houses,
Atlantic Canning Co., and
Rehoboth Packing Co. Mrs Mary C. Barnett, was proprietor
at Belhaven Hotel, Mrs
Walter Burton was manager of Henlopen Hotel. John S Boyed
had a restaurant and
confectionery store. The Ewing Construction cC., manufactured
sand
and concrete building
blocks at the foot of Laurel Street and the surf. Mack E. Foreman
had
a tobacco and confectionery
store, There was Charles Horns pier and dance hall. Fred Hudson
was a plumber. A.F. &
G. W. Joseph owned a garage service for autos. Joseph Kunsmen
was a house painter. J.
A. Lingo & Son were a grocery store. Thomas Palmer was a
builder
contractor. Edward
Pettyjohn was a grocer. William T. Roach had an auto garage.
Willard
Truitt had entertainments,
ice and coal and lumber. Ralph Wingate was realtor. The
Theroughgood Company sold
lumber and building supplies.
