CARPENTERS PENCIL

CARPENTERS PENCIL

Another instant research of a topic being under discussion at the 8 am
Arby's coffee group while at a special Wednesday morning breakfast get
together at the Ocean Point Grill in Villages of Five Points at Wescoats
Corner's.

According to Sehon Warneke in the “ Home Owners' Helper “ article
titled “Penciled In” the flat pencils are usually seen behind a carpenters
ear and the special long flat rectangular shape prevents them from rolling
off the table. They are easy to hold and the beefy lead points are less prone to breakage and they do fit well behind an ear.

A carpenters pencil can be used as a compass to scribe small gaps. Placed
flat against a vertical surface this pencil will mark a line 1/8” from
the surface and it has a thinner side and a thicker side. In a jam it can also
be used as a shim if needed.

Tip. Always carry two carpenters pencils to avoid the need to retrieve
a dropped one from the top of the ladder.

Sehon is with the Warneke's , Lake Hardware & Lumber Company,
117 Oyster Creek Drive, Clute, Texas, a bit south of Galvaston and
just east of Lake Jackson of the Texas Gulf of Mexico coast.
